Caritas Switzerland – family carers

People who look after a relative – in most cases caregivers are women – often have to give up their jobs to do so. This can lead to large gaps in pension contributions and spell poverty in old age. Caritas Switzerland supports caregivers by paying them a wage, making social welfare contributions and providing them with expert advice. The valuable work of caregivers is therefore recognised more and those in need of care can continue living in their own homes as independently as possible.
