Smiling Gecko Foundation

The Swiss aid organisation Smiling Gecko helps needy children and families in rural Cambodia. The organisation takes a holistic economic development strategy to empower local populations so they can lead their lives the way they choose. Since 2014, a total of 140 hectares of land have been purchased in the northern province of Chhnang. This site was used to set up schools, sustainable farming, and initial and continuing vocational training centres for craft trades as well as in gastronomy and the tourist industry. The foundation has also collaborated with the ETH, the University of Zurich and the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) for many years to support and reinforce its specialist know-how and sustainability.
